Our Safety officer Phil Keithley had a new members ride Sunday August 16, 2009. All riders are welcomed and we had a good mixture of old members and new ones. Phil goes over all the riding rules so people will know how we ride as a group and feel comfortable while riding with us. Want to thank our Dealership GM Joe Saunders for coming early on a Sunday morning to open up the store for us. Joe also donated 2 very nice Shadow Box Picture Frames ( see the pictures) for two lucky riders today. We put all the names in a hat and drew out the winners. Thanks Joe.
Our Road Captain Smitty lead us on a very nice ride to Willmington and Southport NC. The day started out cloudy but we didn't see very much rain during the day. A few sprinkles and mostly a great day for riding. We went to Ocean Island Beach and came back over to Southport via the Ferry. Had a great lunch and stopped for a cold Ice Cream on the way home. Nice ride Smitty!
The chapter had a camping weekend in Tabor city, NC at the Jelly Stone Campground. There also was a Saturday ride up to the campground for those folks that didn't camp out.
Smitty led a few chapter members for an over night ride to Beaufort, SC. These pictures were submitted by Sue Wilson. Looks like everyone had a great trip. Thanks for sharing with us Sue.
The Chapter had a little ride down to the Inlet to watch the parade of boats all decorated up for Independence Day! Following the parade we rode over to T Bones Restaurant for dinner. Leaving the dinner table and a quick stop for Ice Cream then on to watch the Fireworks back in the Inlet. Great night with great friends!
Cal Wheeler led our ride to Moncks Corner, SC for a visit to the Mipkin Abbey. On the way there we stopped at Francis Marion's ( the Swamp Fox) grave site and a bite to eat at Harry's Fish Camp. Was a HOT one but we had a great day thanks to Cal.
Casey took us on a North West Ride on this HOT Saturday up around North Carolina and back to Smitty's house in Longs S,C. for a bar-b-q in honor of Michael Smith's graduation. Mike is our youngest HOG member and also, as Casey has stated, the only one to have graduated while being a member!
Joanne Dagato has sent in these pictures she took while participating in the Rolling Thunder Event in Washington DC. Thanks for sharing with us Joanne.
The July 2009 Chapter Meeting had a great turnout of approximately 100 people. We had the Honor and Privilege to witness the Missing Man Table Ceremony presented by our Rolling Thunder Chapter friends. Click on the first picture of the Table for an explanation of the setting.
